Up for sale is this 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL, finished in Signal Red over a Palomino leather interior, with a fabric manual folding convertible top, and a matching body color removable hardtop. This excellent SL is a two-owner example with a full known history, extensive service records, and only 32,014 miles on the odometer. The R107 chassis SL is an icon, produced from 1971 to 1989. It's a prime example of the cost-no-object approach Daimler-Benz was famous for, producing a car that feels indestructible, and meant to last for generations. This 1986 model was the final version for this long-runningchassis, with the 5.6 liter M117 V8 being the most powerful motor it ever had - 227 hp in US trim. The Signal Red finish of this 560SL is in excellent condition, with glossy and consistent color across all panels. The bumpers are free from damage or blemishes, all exterior black trim is still dark and free from fade, and chrome is clean and free from pitting. The fabric convertible top and plastic rear windows are in excellent shape. Inside, the Palomino leather is in great condition with no creases or wear, and the burled walnut trim has no fade in the wood stain, or cracks in the finish. A full service in 2020 includes replacement of the valve cover gaskets, coolant expansion tank, engine mounts, brake service, exhaust hangers, and new Michelin tires with 2020 date codes.
